Crowns and Bridges
A crown is a cap used to restore a tooth to its original appearance and prevent further damage or decay.
We recommend crowns for teeth after completing root canal treatment or for those teeth whose colour or shape is not desirable.
The crowns can be made from a porcelain fused to metal material, full ceramic material or full metal.
The adjacent teeth on both sides of the gap are prepared to support the bridge for stability.
While bridges are a good option to replace missing teeth, they are not the ideal treatment as the preparation involving the adjacent teeth may sometimes damage them.
Therefore, if possible, implants are recommended to replace missing teeth. However, if it is not possible to place implants, a bridge is indicated if a patient wants a replacement that is fixed.
